Charter basics
What is a Bali charter?
A Bali charter is a private, crewed yacht chartered for your group — crew, a private chef and guides included, priced per night. You fly to Benoa Harbour / Sanur / Serangan and step aboard. Operated by Komodo Luxury.
Do you own the yachts?
No, and we say so plainly. Bali Luxury Boat is a curation and booking desk within Juara Holding Group. Every vessel is run by its own licensed operator and crew; our role is selecting the right boat, negotiating the itinerary and rate, and managing the arrangement from enquiry to disembarkation.
Why does that matter?
Because we hold no fleet of our own, we have no calendar to fill and no reason to push a vessel that does not suit your group. We will tell you plainly when the cheaper boat is the right answer.
Is the charter fully private?
Yes. You take the entire vessel — cabins, decks, crew, and itinerary are yours alone. There are no shared departures; the rate is for the boat, not per person.
Who is on board?
A licensed captain and crew, a private chef, and dive guides on dive-capable vessels. Larger yachts carry eight or more crew, including a chief engineer, stewards and deckhands.
Is there a fee for your planning work?
No. There is no charge for our planning work on top of the charter price; our desk earns from the operator side, not from a fee added to yours.
Who is a Bali charter for?
Bali luxury boat charters are designed for discerning travelers seeking an exclusive maritime experience. Ideal for families, intimate groups, or corporate retreats, they provide an exceptional blend of privacy, comfort, and tailored exploration.
Pricing & payment
How much does a Bali charter cost?
Whole-vessel Bali charters are quoted per night, all-inclusive of crew and chef. Costs range from USD 4,500 to USD 22,000+ per night depending on the chosen vessel. We confirm an exact quote once we know your dates, guests and nights.
What does a day charter cost?
Indicative rates start around USD 1,200 for a sunset cruise and USD 1,800–3,500 for a full private day charter.
Are meals included in the charter cost?
Yes, all meals prepared by your private chef are included in the charter cost, ensuring a culinary experience tailored to your preferences. Alcohol and premium catering are typically add-ons.
What is included and what is extra?
All-inclusive covers the vessel, crew, meals, standard activities such as snorkeling and diving, plus provisioning and running expenses. Quoted separately: a damage deposit, special services such as premium diving guides or private transfers, and mandatory services listed as their own line.
What is the APA, and do I get unspent money back?
On superyacht and expedition charters the Advance Provisioning Allowance — typically 25 to 35 percent of the charter fee — is paid before departure and covers fuel, park and ranger fees, food and drink, and port charges. It is accounted against receipts, and any unspent balance is returned after the trip.
Do I need to pay a tourist levy?
Yes, there is a one-time Bali tourist levy of approximately IDR 150,000 (around USD 10) for each foreign visitor.
How does the deposit work?
A deposit secures the vessel and date; the balance is due before departure. For corporate charters the standard structure is 30 to 50 percent to hold the vessel, with the balance before departure. We send the operator’s deposit and cancellation terms in writing before you pay anything.
Can you invoice our company and provide tax documentation?
Yes. We issue company invoices in USD or IDR addressed to your registered entity, with the supporting documents your finance and procurement teams need.
Does the per-person cost fall with more guests?
Sharply. Per-person costs drop with more guests — about USD 6,139 per person for 10 guests over 7 nights on a mid-tier vessel.
Vessels & the fleet
How many vessels are in the Bali fleet?
Our Bali fleet spans 62 vessels — from smart dive phinisi (from about USD 350–500 per guest per night) through luxury yachts such as Lamima and Prana to full superyachts.
How many guests can each vessel accommodate?
Our vessels range from accommodating 10 to 30 guests, depending on the yacht type. A luxury day yacht (15–25m) takes up to 20; a catamaran (12–20m) up to 30; a phinisi (30–45m) 10–14 in 5–7 cabins.
How do I choose between a phinisi and a motor yacht?
A phinisi gives you deck space, a traditional sailing experience and a slower pace. A motor yacht crosses faster and holds air-conditioned interiors. For a group spending full days on the water, deck space usually matters more than speed.
Is a catamaran better than a speedboat for Nusa Penida?
They solve different problems. A speedboat crosses faster; a catamaran crosses far more comfortably and gives you a base for the whole day: shade, a proper toilet, lunch on board, and space to rest between snorkel stops. For groups spending the full day out, the catamaran is almost always the better platform.
What makes a catamaran suit Bali specifically?
Twin hulls track flat through the Badung Strait chop that would have a monohull rolling. Shallow draft — roughly 1 to 1.5 metres against 2 to 2.5 for a keelboat — lets the crew position the boat where the swimming actually is. And the layout means one group can sunbathe forward while another sits in shade aft.
Can I charter a vessel that is not on your list?
Yes. When a requirement goes beyond our own network — a specific build year, a particular naval architect, or helicopter capability — we extend the search through our yacht brokerage partner, which maintains relationships with private owners whose yachts charter selectively in Indonesian waters.
What is a superyacht charter in Bali?
A privately crewed vessel of 100 feet or more, departing from Benoa Harbour, the one port on the island with the draft, berthing and clearance infrastructure for yachts of this class. Realistic pricing starts at USD 7,000–9,000 per day for the vessel and crew, before the provisioning allowance.
Are there eco-friendly vessel options?
Yes, we offer eco-friendly silent electric yachts designed for sustainability without compromising luxury. These provide a serene cruising experience with reduced environmental impact.
Routes, seasons & timing
When is the best time to visit Bali?
April to October is prime; dry season April–October; best seas for cruising May–September. We plan routes around the conditions.
How many nights do I need?
Most trips run 3–4 nights minimum; 7 nights lets you see the highlights comfortably, and 10+ nights reaches the remote corners.
Where do charters embark from?
Most charters embark from Benoa Harbour, Sanur or Serangan. Lombok Strait and Gili Islands routes leave from Padangbai on the east coast.
How do I get to Bali?
Fly to Ngurah Rai (DPS), Denpasar, Bali; we coordinate the transfer and embarkation.
What are the popular itineraries?
Popular routes include trips to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and the Gili Islands. Customised itineraries are available for those wishing to explore lesser-known areas or incorporate activities such as diving and snorkelling.
How long is the boat trip from Bali to Nusa Penida?
Forty-five to sixty minutes on a speedboat or fast day cruiser out of Serangan, and up to ninety minutes on a larger displacement yacht.
How long does the yacht trip from Bali to the Gili islands take?
Plan on two and a half to four hours from Padangbai to Gili Trawangan aboard a motor yacht.
Can we charter from Bali to Komodo?
Yes, as a multi-day expedition rather than a day trip. Bali to Labuan Bajo is roughly 250 nautical miles by sea; five nights is the sensible minimum, and seven to eight is the sweet spot. Most parties sail one way and fly back, about 50 minutes.
Can we customise our itinerary?
Absolutely. Our charters offer fully customizable itineraries to suit your preferences, ensuring a bespoke experience.
Diving & activities
What certification do I need for diving?
A minimum of Open Water certification is required, with Advanced Open Water recommended for more challenging sites.
Is diving equipment provided?
Yes, diving equipment and snorkelling gear are provided for all guests.
Are manta ray sightings guaranteed?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Sightings on morning charters are frequent, but they remain wild animals. Captains check conditions and position boats accordingly.
Where are the signature dive sites?
Nusa Penida for year-round manta rays and seasonal ocean sunfish; Uluwatu for drift diving and pelagics; Nusa Lembongan for shallow reefs; the Gili Islands for coral gardens and turtles; Menjangan for its protected marine park; and Amed for black sand and reefs close to shore.
When can I see mola-mola?
Mola-mola appear at Crystal Bay in the July to October window, when cooler water pushes up. Reef mantas are resident at Nusa Penida year round.
Do I need to be a certified diver to see the mantas?
No. Manta Point works well as a snorkel site because the mantas feed and clean near the surface. Snorkellers enter with a guide while certified divers go deeper along the cleaning stations.
What else is there to do on board?
Snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing, plus wellness options such as deck yoga and massage on vessels that carry a therapist.
How safe are luxury boat charters in Bali?
Safety is our utmost priority. Our vessels are equipped with the latest safety equipment and adhere to international maritime standards. Our experienced crew undergoes rigorous training to ensure a secure and enjoyable trip for all guests.
Booking & logistics
How do I book a luxury boat charter in Bali?
Booking can be done through our website or by contacting our customer service team. We recommend reserving your charter well in advance, particularly for peak season dates, to ensure availability. Customised experiences may require additional planning time.
What should I include in my first message?
Your dates or date window, how many guests, how many nights, and what the trip is about — diving, leisure or both. That is enough for us to shortlist.
How quickly will I hear back?
We reply 24/7 in English and Indonesian, usually within hours. A full vessel shortlist with photographs, layouts, inclusions and firm quotes normally follows within one working day.
How far in advance should I book?
For July–September and the December–January holidays, three to six months is realistic; the pool of the best vessels is small and they are committed early. Outside peak months, four to six weeks is often enough. Day charters and short formats need less.
What happens if the weather turns?
The captain has the final word on safety, and we back that word without exception. Unsafe conditions result in rescheduling to the next available day, a modified sheltered route, or a refund per the operator’s weather policy, which we send you in writing at booking.
Are hotel transfers included?
On mid-band vessels and above, yes. On shorter and smaller charters, usually not: the rate covers the vessel, crew and meals. Your written quote always states which.
Can you arrange a proposal, anniversary or birthday setup on board?
Yes. Deck decoration, flowers, a celebration cake, personalised menus and a photographer are all regular requests, and all of it is agreed before you board.
Can the menu be adjusted for dietary requirements?
Yes. Menus are fixed in advance, which is exactly why adjustments are easy: vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergy-specific versions are confirmed at booking.
Can you handle our arrival the same day we board?
Yes. Our VIP Arrival-to-Boarding package covers fast-track immigration at DPS, a chauffeured car direct to Benoa or Serangan, and luggage handled from the carousel to your cabin. Plan on 60 to 90 minutes from the aircraft door to boarding.
